GTA VI pre-load starts November 10: Release on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
Rockstar Games has announced that players who pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI digitally can download it to their console from November 10. That means launch day on November 19 should not start with hours of waiting for a download.
In short
- Pre-load begins on November 10, 2026.
- The game launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Rockstar has not yet announced the pre-load start time or the download size.
- There is no announced date for a PC version.
When does GTA VI pre-load open, and who gets it?
In a Newswire post dated November 3, Rockstar set the pre-load date as November 10. Pre-loading lets people who bought the game digitally in advance download the files before release; the game stays locked until launch. According to the announcement, release is now only a few weeks away and there is still time to pre-order.
Rockstar's own pages do not yet say at what time, or in which time zone, the pre-load will open, nor how many gigabytes the game will take up. Once the size is published, clearing enough space on your console in advance will keep the November 10 download from stalling halfway.
Which platforms is it on, and is it coming to PC?
Rockstar's GTA VI page lists exactly two platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The page also carries a "Plays Best On" label for PS5, but Rockstar has not said whether that reflects any technical difference. There is neither a date nor an announcement for PC. Claims circulating about a PC release are not based on an official source; until Rockstar says otherwise, the game is planned for these two consoles only.

What else has been announced before launch?
Rockstar made two more announcements in recent weeks. On October 15 it released the game's launch trailer. On October 29 it revealed that the original score was composed by Justice, the Grammy-winning French duo of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay.
The game is set in the state of Leonida and in Vice City, and follows two characters, Jason and Lucia. Alongside the standard version, an Ultimate Edition is on sale. Rockstar describes it as a collection of exclusive vehicles, weapons and clothing unlocked over the course of the story; check the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store for prices in your region.
